Finnish step experience

Hi everyone,

even if I have closed the last post with the Finnish words for “bye and see you tomorrow”, which you might not have understood, I have to post something else this evening …

I thought it would be a good idea to do some sports here in Finnland. As the weather is so bad at the moment that the streets and sidewalks are so slippery that you can’t really walk, running is not a good idea. So I had a look into the sports programm of the University of Turku and found a step course for this evening. It started really good. It is only a 5 to 10 minutes walk to the hall and I found it and the dressing room really easily as they were described in Finnish and English. But then … around 100 to 150 students were there – all Finnish. I went to the teacher and told her, that I can’t speak Finnish and she told me that we will try to do some things in English as well. One hour later I hadn’t understood a word.

So if you haven’t done step before and everyone is only speaking Finnish (it could even have been Chinese and it would have had the same effect) and you don’t feel like an idiot afer one hour, you are better than me!

Cheers,
Verena
