Floor Dinner #2
This night we had the second floor dinner since we are here. So again everyone of the floor prepared some food to share with the others. It worked perfectly and we had a range of realy nice and tasty things to try. See what we had:

Today was a really nice and sunny day. After ice hockey we took the bus to the home of our Finish friendship family. Once there they already have been waiting for us outside. We walked to the side of the houses and found a small but nice hill to sledge on. Not only the kids had fun, but we also!
Afterwards we backed Flammkuchen and ate the Marmorkuchen we had prepared the day before. It was a really nice Sunday afternoon and we enjoyed it a lot.

Final Day of Ice Hockey
This has been a very sad day in a way, but the ice is melting under one’s skates. In most parts of the ice place the top-most layer was a bit like snow – you went into the ice a centimeter or so. Not nice to skate on. Anyway, we kind of managed to play in the shade where the ice was better … At last, it was fun for a last time 🙂
So let’s all say good bye to the good times of ice hockey …

Katie’s Birthday
As Katie had birthday on the 19th March she decided to celebrate into it with a few people. We backed a cake and went to her place to meet and play cards. At around 11:30 we took the last normal bus going into the city. As the Irish pub was too crowded we decided to go to Monkey and celebrate there.

Flight back home booked
As it is cheaper to book early we today booked our flight back home to Germany. Even though we don’t like the company that much, Ryanair was the cheapest possibility. We are flying back from Tampere to Frankfurt Hahn.

St. Patrick’s Day
Saint Patrick (387–461) is the patron of Ireland. On the 17th March St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated. Normally not in Finland, but as ESN is quite active they organized a St. Patrick’s Day party at Monkey, a night club here in Turku. As we know three Northern Irish people who celebrate this day, we joined them. It was a very nice and funny evening and a lot of people wore at least something in green as particular for this day. People were nice, the music was quite good and we had a lot of fun!

Last man standing …
… or playing ice hockey for a last time? Ice and snow are gradually disappearing over here. That makes us wonder how long the ice hockey place will stay open. As it is open-air we worry with every bit of snow and ice that goes away.
That last game has been pretty intense at some points we have to say. Johannes has been hit in the face just once and fallen on his own or caused by others a bit, but Verena has rather hard been hit on or run over for at least 3 times 😉 But it was fun as always. Hope, we can go again and the season does not end now.
